Position Objectives

The Senior Director, Strategic Services is part of a shared Strategic Services group, providing insights and actionable strategies for key clients and high-value business development opportunities. This is a dynamic leadership role supporting all of OPEN Health’s healthcare communications disciplines. The Senior Director, Strategic Services is responsible for converting their knowledge of scientific and marketplace issues into strategic insights and direction for new business development proposals and pitches as well as program/project deliverables.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Provide strategic leadership on new business opportunities, ensuring every pitch/proposal exceeds our client’s expectations and maintains our opportunity conversion rate
  • Work in collaboration with account team leads and other Strategic Services team members to continually assess our strategic capability and progress on key accounts
  • Provide strategic support during the new client onboarding period in order to provide a seamless transition from project planning to execution
  • Provide direction to all teams requesting the support of the Strategic Services department in a manner that achieves key business metrics and group/company goals
  • Drive innovation and advance an environment that encourages the creation of new client solutions
  • Mentor internal teams on the successful establishment of strategic partnerships and delivery of strategic project work
  • Maintain awareness of the competitive landscape, opportunities for expansion, customers, markets, new industry developments and standards, and so forth by attending relevant conferences in therapeutic or business areas as needed
  • Partner with New Business Team to shape our company growth strategy, triage opportunities, and build ‘gold standard’ resources and examples
  • Develop strong internal relationships and facilitate/evolve collaborations among OPEN Health practices/disciplines in order to maximize the company’s strategic positioning and offering
  • Represent OPEN Health at industry conferences and functions
What you'll bring 
  • Bachelor’s degree (life sciences preferred)
  • Advanced degree in health science or business management is desirable
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience working in a Medical Affairs consultancy, medical communications agency, or pharmaceutical company setting
  • Proven Medical Affairs knowledge, insights, and experience
  • High level of experience and comfort interacting and building relationships across all relevant functions within client companies, including but not limited to: medical affairs, medical/scientific communications, learning & development
  • Strong knowledge of and familiarity with multichannel medical education and internal training programs/tools, publication planning, health economics & outcomes research, and value communications
  • Ability to develop detailed proposals, including specifications and associated pricing structures, across a wide range of deliverables related to the disciplines outlined in the bullet above
  • Ability to synthesize complex market and/or product information and distill key learnings and insights into meaningful, actionable strategic recommendations
  • Ability to build strong, collaborative relationships with agency and client team members
  • Proven project management, time management, organization, and prioritization skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including outstanding presentation development and delivery skills
  • Demonstrated multi-level management and leadership ability 
  • Ability to manage multiple and sometimes competing challenges, issues, and priorities with the ability to delegate, problem solve, and set clear expectations
  • Ability to handle high levels of business activity
  • Enthusiastic, team player, self-motivated
  • Knowledge of business metrics, including financial targets, forecasting, sales, revenue, project profitability and margins
  • Working knowledge of basic Office programs including MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint
  • Enthusiasm, positivity, teamwork, and leadership
Working conditions
  • This position will be performed remotely or in a corporate business setting as required
  • Hours: 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, Monday-Friday; or as required by business needs
  • Travel: International and domestic; approximately 25%-50%
