  • Are confident serving as a scientific advisor across a variety of therapeutic areas, synthesizing complex product and market information and distilling your insights into meaningful, actionable strategic recommendations 
  • Possess superb communication skills that allow you to develop compelling, evidence-based scientific stories and effectively moderate collaborative, consensus-driving discussions among your colleagues and client partners
  • Have previously supported the development of strategic medical content for communication planning initiatives including customized analytics projects, scientific platforms, evidence gap assessments, and supportive tactical plans
  • Are a strategic thinker with a penchant for multi-tasking who is comfortable with a bit of ambiguity and thinking on your feet
  • Hold an advanced science degree (PharmD, PhD, MD, DO) and have previous experience working in the Medical Affairs or medical communications sector within a consulting firm, agency, or pharmaceutical company setting  

 
The Associate Director/Director, Medical Strategy is responsible for providing strategic medical and tactical direction to support all of OPEN Health’s healthcare communications disciplines in (1) the development of multi-stakeholder healthcare communication plans, (2) strong strategic client partnerships, and (3) ongoing new/organic business development activities of the company.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for the following activities:

  • Analyzing and interpreting scientific data, disease/treatment landscape, and external stakeholder evidence requirements to identify challenges, opportunities, and strategic imperatives for the demonstration and communication of a product’s value
  • Leading the development of strategic medical content for communication planning initiatives including customized analytics projects, scientific platforms, evidence gap assessments, and supportive tactical plans
  • Driving the development of strategic medical content for new business opportunities/ proposals and participating in capabilities presentations for prospective clients
  • Providing strategic oversight of medical content during the new client onboarding period in order to provide a seamless transition from planning to implementation
  • Leading/moderating scientific/strategic discussions at client meetings and live programs with clients and/or external experts, as needed
  • Leveraging an understanding of scientific data, client needs, and real-world challenges in order to provide customized, actionable strategies and messages for assigned client accounts; provide input to project specifications and budgets as relevant
  • Maintaining awareness of evolving Medical Affairs landscape, new industry developments and standards, target therapeutic area trends, and pharmaceutical/biotech company pipelines by attending relevant medical and trade conferences
  • Leveraging medical and industry knowledge to support the New Business Team in identifying opportunities for organic growth and new business development in alignment with the OPEN Health service offering

 
What you’ll bring:

  • Advanced Life Sciences degree (PharmD, PhD, MD, DO) from an accredited university 
  • Minimum of 3 years (Associate Director) or 5 years (Director) of experience working in a Medical Affairs consultancy or medical communications agency, or within the Medical Affairs division of a pharmaceutical company 
  • In-depth experience in the delivery of key offerings of Medical Affairs service providers, particularly medical and/or value communications
  • Ability and willingness to discuss science and strategy with external stakeholders at all levels
  • Ability to synthesize complex market and/or product information and distill key learnings and insights into meaningful, actionable strategic recommendations
  • Ability to work across multiple therapeutic categories and disease states 
  • Proven project management, time management, organization, and prioritization skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including outstanding presentation development and delivery skills
  • Ability to manage multiple and sometimes competing challenges, issues, and priorities with the ability to delegate, problem solve, and set clear expectations
  • Enthusiastic, team player, self-motivated attitude and demeanor 
  • Working knowledge of basic Office programs including MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint

  
Working conditions
• This position will be performed remotely or in a corporate business setting as required – US based
• Hours: 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, Monday-Friday; or as required by business needs
• Travel: International and domestic; approximately 25%-50%
