Our medical and account teams provide strategic support to pharmaceutical company clients and produce high-quality journal articles, abstracts, posters, supplements, slide presentations, monographs, and other educational materials.

Position Overview: Senior Medical Directors must be able to work both independently and in a team structure. They must be particularly suited to high-profile client and faculty contact. As the medical lead on any project, the Senior Medical Director is responsible for clearly communicating content needs to Medical Writers and concept needs to Graphic Designers and mentoring junior members of the medical portion of the team(s). The Senior Medical Director will also have direct and overall responsibility for the medical team adhering to medical budgets within a project, escalating resource needs as appropriate, and providing high-level strategy to the internal client Account Director. The Senior Medical Director assumes responsibility for the overall medical content of the account. The position is based on increasing volume from the Medical Director position, in addition to the fact that, at the highest levels of the position, the individual will be expected to come to the management team with company suggestions.

Specific Duties, Activities, and Responsibilities: 
  • Mentor Medical Associates and Associate Medical Directors by assessing and giving timely and constructive feedback to aid in development plans for junior team members
  • Provide therapeutic area expertise to assigned brand teams - Cardiovascular disease, CNS/Neuroscience, Rare Disease, Oncology and/or Immunology experience is a plus!
  • Escalate needs for additional medical resources as a result of being involved in the day-to-day ownership of medical content
  • Develop solutions for team(s) based on project prioritization and resource projections
  • Build relationships with clinical and research executives in the pharmaceutical industry as well as academic opinion leaders
  • Fulfill revenue expectations and timeline and budget adherence for medical component of team(s)
  • Plan, manage, and review scientific presentations and publications and help develop medical education programs 
  • Work closely with Medical Writers to ensure on-target messaging and clinical accuracy
  • Represent the company at selected educational and client meetings and business pitches
  • Develop and/or repurpose technically high-level projects including publications in professional journals, monographs, slide presentations, executive meeting minutes, and other materials requiring sound clinical judgment and excellent writing skills
  • Attend status meetings as necessary
  • Comply with company standards
  • Procure and maintain appropriate travel documentation   
  • Maintain consistent attendance
  • Maintain timely submission of time sheets
Position Requirements:

Education or Equivalent (minimum required to perform job)
  • MD, PharmD, or PhD degree
  • 5+ years of experience with a medical communications company or clinical equivalent
  • Personnel management experience preferred
Knowledge/Skills Requirements
  • Experience in developing medical and marketing concepts through critical analysis of data, distilling complex technical information for a variety of medical audiences, writing proposals, and editing documents
  • Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical marketing
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines while working on multiple, parallel projects
  • Proven managerial expertise
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team structure
Business Environment: 
Position: This position has been approved for full-time remote 
Travel: up to 30% domestic and/or international
