Peloton Advantage, a US-based OPEN Health company, is a thriving medical publications and communications company. We are actively seeking an experienced Director, Global Business Development based in the US that has the track-record in driving strategic business development activities for the company across business divisions.  This role is directly accountable for contributing to the company’s overall financial goals and objectives through opportunity identification, marketing/brand narrative/story optimization, business generation, and relationship management.

Primary duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Opportunity Identification and Business Development

●    Drive the procurement opportunity initiatives in the US across each of our OPEN Health business units to create selling opportunities including:
o    OPEN Health Medical Communications (previously Succinct and now including US-based Peloton Advantage)
o    OPEN Health Patient & Brand Communications (previously The EarthWorks, Reynolds MacKenzie & LEC)
o    OPEN VIE: Value, Informatics, Evidence (previously pH Associates, Harvey Walsh & OPEN Access Consulting)
●    Manage assigned business development budgets in accordance with OPEN Health guidelines and best practices
●    Identify and participate in appropriate industry selling and networking opportunities to include:
o    ISMPP
o    MAPS
o    ISPOR 
o    Other events, conferences, congresses, etc. as identified by the Account Teams
●    Drive opportunity identification through account review process (organic line expansion), new client profiling, industry conference lead generation, and thought leadership activities
●    Translate business leads into sold business at targets agreed upon by business leaders
●    Represent OPEN Health at industry conferences and functions
●    Partner with owners and senior account personnel to lead the business development and selling of current and new offerings by establishing relationships, participating in new business pitches, and setting up relationship-building meetings with prospective clients
●    Partner with the New Business Development leads to ensure an aligned and collaborative client-centric approach
●    Maintain awareness of the competitive landscape, opportunities for expansion, customers, markets, new industry developments and standards, etc. by attending relevant conferences in therapeutic or business areas as needed

Relationship Management

●    Actively participate in new account onboarding to ensure continuity between pitch and initial delivery
●    Participate in key client strategy meetings and yearly account reviews to uncover organic growth and line extension opportunities in concert with senior account staff
●    Develop and track detailed CRM information online to drive visibility of client contacts and communications, including:
o    Creating client company organizational charts
o    Developing business development action plans for each key stakeholder
o    Ensuring all information remains updated in order to provide a footprint that reflects revenue, new project summaries, and details of all business development activities
●    Identify and develop successful professional relationships with pharmaceutical procurement leads at the decision-making level, with success measured as:
o    RFIs leading to signed MSAs and inclusion on preferred vendor supplier lists
o    RFPs resulting from preferred vendor lists and organic sources
o    Delivery of new client business pitches, capabilities presentations, and scoping meetings
●    Define and coordinate client meetings (onsite and virtual)
o    Ensure internal attendees have up-to-date client and relationship information
o    Provide internal attendees with a succinct meeting plan in order to maximize client access 
o    Work with stakeholders to follow-up with next steps and project launches

Leadership and Internal Management

●    Provide senior level consultation and strategic input as required/requested from account teams
●    Provide mentorship for junior staff interested in the business development process
●    Contribute to internal initiatives from a strategic and/or clinical perspective as required (eg, branding, messaging, recruitment, etc.)
●    Motivate colleagues through leading by example and demonstrating teamwork, collaboration, clear and concise communication, and commitment to excellence in all aspects of business development

Qualifications include:

● Bachelor’s degree (life sciences preferred)
● Advanced degree in health science or business management desirable
● Minimum of 10 years’ direct involvement with pharmaceutical marketing, medical communications, publication planning, promotional medical education, business 
development in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, or senior management and account responsibility in a medical communications or marketing services company
● Proven business development results
● Strong knowledge of industry trends, buying processes, and competitive landscape
● Experience developing and establishing new products and services offerings
