What you’ll bring:
  • MD, PharmD, or PhD degree
  • 3+ years of experience with a medical education company or clinical equivalent
  • Ability to work both independently (on-site and remotely) and in a team structure
  • Ability to quickly and thoroughly understand any pharmaceutical product, particularly as it relates to the overall therapeutic area
  • Experience in developing medical and marketing concepts through critical analysis of data, distilling complex technical information for a variety of medical audiences, and developing scientific overviews and publication concepts for proposals
  • High level of comfort working with clients and faculty
  • Aptitude for the English language and excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to perform all duties on-line, as OPEN Health is a paperless company 
  • Ability to manage multiple and sometimes competing challenges, issues, and priorities with the ability to delegate, problem solve, and set clear expectations
  • Proficiency in Office programs including MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint. EndNote experience is a plus!
 
Our medical department includes Senior Medical Directors, Medical Directors, Associate Medical Directors, and Medical Associates who partner with pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies to develop and execute strategic publication plans, strategic marketing solutions, promotional medical education, and sales training for their respective brands throughout all phases of the product lifecycle.
Medical Directors must be able to work both independently and in a team structure. They must be particularly suited to high-profile client and faculty contact. As the medical lead on any project, the Medical Director is responsible for clearly communicating content needs to Medical Writers and concept needs to Graphic Designers. The Medical Director also has responsibility for adhering to medical budgets within a project, escalating resource needs as appropriate, and providing high-level strategy to the internal client Account Director.

Specific Duties, Activities, and Responsibilities:
  • Mentor Medical Associates and Associate Medical Directors by assessing and giving timely and constructive feedback to aid in development plans for junior team members
  • Provide therapeutic area expertise to assigned brand teams - Oncology, Hematology, Immunology and/or Neuroscience experience is a plus!
  • Build relationships with clinical and research executives in the pharmaceutical industry as well as academic opinion leaders
  • Plan, manage, and review scientific presentations and publications and help develop medical education programs 
  • Work closely with Account Director to ensure that content meets the expectations of the client; drive client meetings when the discussion centers on the scientific communication for the brand; provide input into the annual planning process with the client
  • Lead medical team in meeting both timeline and budgetary parameters
  • Work closely with Medical Writers to ensure on-target communication, clinical accuracy, and delivery of projects on time and within budget
  • Represent the company at selected educational and client meetings and business pitches
  • Develop and/or repurpose technically high-level projects including publications in professional journals, monographs, slide presentations, executive meeting minutes, and other materials requiring sound clinical judgment and excellent writing skills

Working conditions
  • This position will be performed remotely or in a corporate business setting as required
  • Hours: 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, Monday-Friday; or as required by business needs
  • Travel: Domestic and International; up to 20%
