Position Description: Managing Editor
The Managing Editor is assigned to one or more therapeutic account teams and handles all editorial duties, including medical editing, copy editing, proofreading, fact-checking, PowerPoint slide editing, and creating and maintaining account style guides. The Managing Editor is responsible for her/his workload and communicates directly with her/his teams regarding priorities and assignments. The Managing Editor reports to the VP, Writing and Editorial Services. Proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Web searching is required; all Managing Editors perform their duties on-line, as Peloton Advantage is a paperless company. At least 5 years of experience in an editorial position in a medical communications company is required. Familiarity with EndNote is a plus. Specific duties are listed below:
  • Manages the daily editorial workload of assigned accounts (publication plans encompassing journal articles, abstracts, posters, supplements, slides, etc.) 
  • Performs all editorial functions for assigned projects from conception through publication/presentation (proofreading, copy editing, medical editing, fact-checking, formatting, submission prep, EndNote bibliography generation, etc.) 
  • Manages timelines for workload across several accounts and prioritizes work as necessary to meet multiple objectives
  • Applies client policy regarding annotations, citations, and preparation for med/legal team review; creates internal policy in absence of client policy
  • Liaises with internal team members, medical writers, and authors to ensure editorial integrity and adherence to GPP
  • Prepares editorial templates and client-specific style guides for assigned teams
  • Assists with the editorial review of new business proposals, company bios, and various other internal documents
  • Updates EndNote databases as needed in support of Information Services

Position is full-time and is located in Parsippany, NJ. Remote options will be considered.
